The Gentle Cleanser is a clinically designed, non-stripping cosmeceutical formulation developed to preserve epidermal integrity during daily cleansing. By supporting the skin’s microbiome, barrier lipids and hydration dynamics, it intervenes at the surface level to maintain cutaneous homeostasis, reduce reactivity and improve skin tolerance to subsequent topical treatments.

This formulation aligns with AWvi’s physiology-based approach, offering essential external support for skin affected by inflammatory dermatoses, sensitivity or barrier dysfunction, including redness-prone skin, acne, rosacea, dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema. It is also suitable for all other skin presentations, including dry, oily or combination skin, as well as photoaged or mature skin. It can be used independently or integrated with AWvi’s systemic and topical protocols for enhanced efficacy and broader skin stabilisation.

How to use

In the morning and evening, apply a nickel-sized amount to damp skin, then gently massage over face and neck. Rinse with water.

How it works

One of the first things most of us do when we wake up is wash our face: it's an instinctive act that helps us awaken and is used to remove anything that might have built up on our skin during the night. This action also serves to renew the shield of the epidermis and reactivate it.

When discussing a delicate and often exposed area like the face, the part of our body that is most exposed, along with our hands, and the part that undergoes the most external attacks and treatments, such as makeup and shaving, it becomes essential to use the right cleansing and hygiene system.

This system allows for the emulsifying and removal of dirt, oil, and other impurities from the skin's surface while preserving the delicate balances of both the skin's pH and its microbiome.

While water removes everything that's water-soluble, on its own, it's insufficient for eliminating other types of traces. This is why ‘surfactants’ are added: substances capable of removing what water can't.

The surfactants included in our formula not only ensure effective skin cleansing but also facilitate the absorption of the other premium active ingredients contained in our formula. These high-quality ingredients are rarely found in products of this type and provide benefits that go far beyond what a standard cleanser offers.

Active Water

Most skincare products are composed largely of water (up to 85%, by volume), which serves primarily as a base. We have made this essential component an active ingredient.

Our active water is upcycled, extracted from the non-edible portions of organic Mediterranean green mandarins (The Power Serum) and red oranges (The Gentle Cleanser and The Active Cream).

Compared to demineralised or distilled water, our microbiologically pure water offers a protective effect against oxidation, UV rays, and pollution.

Our active water also has anti-inflammatory properties and forms a protective film that strengthens the skin barrier. Moreover, it contains a type of salt that is recognised by the body and assists in the absorption of other ingredients.

Biomimetic Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a key molecule involved in skin moisture, with the ability to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water.

Ours comes in a full spectrum of molecular sizes, mimicking the HA produced by the human body and better able to counteract its gradual, age-related decline.

Molecules of varying sizes penetrate the skin at different depths, with larger molecules working on the surface and smaller ones reaching deeper layers.

Our topical formulas contain HA molecules of one or more sizes, selected according to each product specific function.

Our HA works to enhance skin moisturisation and reinforce the skin barrier, contributing to an overall improvement in skin health. It also offers a direct lifting effect, stimulates collagen production, and induces synthesis of elastin in fibroblasts.

These actions increase skin elasticity and smoothness and decrease the depth of fine lines and wrinkles.

Ectoin

Ectoin is an amino acid derivative discovered in the desert, where it was found to protect microorganisms against extreme conditions.

Our purified ectoin is a biotech product, precisely characterised from a chemical and biological perspective. It is made by bio-fermenting a non-GMO bacterial strain selected for its ability to enhance skin health.

Our ectoin actively supports the restoration of skin homeostasis, fortifying skin’s microbiotic defences against environmental stressors and promoting the synthesis of skin-strengthening peptides.

It also promotes cell viability and enhances cell metabolism while improving skin texture and elasticity and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Biomimetic Triglycerides

Triglycerides are naturally occurring compounds that help to maintain healthy skin by providing a source of energy for skin cells, preserving the skin’s protective barrier, and reducing skin irritation and redness with their anti-inflammatory properties.

They also contribute to the formation of lipids that keep skin hydrated, preventing water loss and helping to maintain its structure and function.

Our triglycerides have similar properties to those that occur naturally within the body. Their biocompatibility ensures high penetration of both active and functional ingredients while making our formulas easier to apply and more comfortable on the skin.

Our triglycerides are derived exclusively from locally sourced Italian, non-GMO olives using purification, extraction, and isolation processes that reduce our carbon footprint.
